14th May 2010,
10.30am–3.30pm
Carrickdale Hotel, Co Louth
The island of Ireland experienced unprecedented economic growth in the years following the Good Friday Agreement and during the ‘Celtic Tiger’ era. Yet alongside this, inequalities in health, housing, employment and education became more entrenched, both on local an international levels.
Tools for Action: Making Economic and Social Change will explore best practice models of how social and economic governance can be effective, inclusive and directed towards delivering change where it is most needed.
Speakers at the international forum will include:
Mary Robinson, Realising Rights: Ethical Globalization Initiative
Sowmya Kidambi, MKSS, (India)
Thomas Linzey, Community Environmental Legal Defence Fund (USA)
Professor Christopher McCrudden, Oxford University
Inez McCormack, Chairperson of the PPR Project
The forum is free to attend and limited transport places will be available for those attending from Belfast and Dublin. A limited number of travel bursaries are also available for those who would otherwise be unable to attend. Enquiries for bursaries should be made to Avril Dennison at avril@pprproject.org or 02890 326980.
