Cuba Hill Walk 2010

On Saturday the 31st of July UNISON's International Solidarity Group (UISG) held their annual Féile sponsored Belfast Hill walk for Cuba. Despite the dreadful weather a party of 30 people turned up to support the event. So far they have rasied over £600 which will go towards sponsoring a health project at Polyclinic Efrain Mayor in Cuba.

UISG (Rvh) would like to thank everyone who parted with their hard earned money for this worthwhile cause. Their efforts are much appreciated.

Also thanks to Margaret McKernon and everyone at Féile an Phobail. Special thanks to all those who suffered for the cause by walking the Divis Hill in such atrocious conditions; to UNISON regional office and RVH branch for their contributions; and to our guide Dermot McCann (Divis Hill Warden) who provided everyone with his expert knowledge of these fabulous hills; pointing out interesting facts along the way about, for example,  the hills neo-lithic graves, famine walls and  agricultural history and much, much more.

Finally thanks to Ann Marie and her colleagues at the RMH kitchen for their much appreciated refreshments.  I look forward to seing you all next year.
