Today, British government chancellor, George Osborne, has made the announcements that the Tory/Lib Dem alliance intend to wield the financial axe like never before. The fears of unions have been confirmed; it is the most marginalised, disempowered and economically challenged that face the brunt of the cuts in the comprehensive spending review.
Schools, hospitals, community groups, pensions, young people, people on benefits; all have uncertain futures.
UNISON community and voluntary branch are appealing to all members, they're familes and friends to take to the streets this weekend - Saturday 23 Oct at 12.30 at the Arts college marching to Belfast city hall. We as a society need to make our voices heard loud and clear. No to cuts, No to Osbornes budget, No to attacks on public services.
